There’s a new “Evangelist” on the block. It’s your Marketing Specialist. What?
I started noticing people referring to themselves as “Marketing Evangelist” in articles authored by IBM employees talking about trends for 2017. Now the term seems to be spreading. I tried Googling “marketing evangelist”, but the only thing I could find was the definition:
1.a person who seeks to convert others to the Christian faith, especially by public preaching.
- a layperson engaged in Christian missionary work.
- a zealous advocate of something.“he is an evangelist of junk bonds”
Move over Marketing Evangelists. Now there are Brand Evangelists too!
I’ve been called lots of things:
- Marketing Guru
- Marketing Wizard
- Marketing Lady
- Marketing Chick
- hey you
But I’ve yet to be referred to as a Marketing Evangelist. Makes me feel like I should start wearing wings and a halo to work. (Not to be disrespectful, I’m just saying…)
The next time you come across a marketing term you don’t know, like Dwell Time, Episodic Content, or Lead Nurturing, email me! Let’s see if I can be your Marketing Interpreter. We’ll figure it out together.
